Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do residential landscaping as well as commercial?
Yes. Sodding, landscaping and hardscaping are available to both residential and commercial clients. Snow removal and property maintenance contracts are commercial and industrial only.
When is the best time to lay sod in the GTA?
Spring and early fall are easiest because the ground is warm and the weather does the watering for you. Sod can be laid through the summer, but it needs more water in the first two weeks to root properly.
Do you remove the old lawn or lay over it?
The old lawn comes off by machine. Laying sod over dead grass traps a layer that never breaks down, the new roots stay shallow and the lawn fails in the first dry summer.
Do you fix grading and drainage at the same time?
Yes, and on most lawn replacements it is the part that matters. If water sits against the house or pools in the middle of the yard, correcting the grade before the sod goes down is the whole point of doing the job.
How long before we can walk on a new lawn?
Keep traffic off it for about two weeks while it roots, and keep it watered daily through that period. First cut is usually at two to three weeks, once it has knitted to the soil.
Do you build retaining walls and interlock as well?
Yes. Retaining walls, interlock, steps and garden bed construction are part of the same work, and they are usually done before the sod so the heavy equipment is not driving over a new lawn.
