Schools And
Institutions
Bus loops, drop-off areas and entrances cleared and treated ahead of the morning bell, by crews who know how to work on a property full of children.
The Bell Does Not Move
A school has a harder deadline than any commercial property. Buses arrive at a fixed time with children on them, and the loop, the drop-off lane and the entrances have to be clear and treated before they do.
The work also has to be finished before students are on the property, not worked around them. Heavy equipment and a schoolyard full of children do not mix, so everything is scheduled to be done ahead of arrival.
What gets cleared goes beyond the lot. Portable walkways, accessible entrances, yard access doors and the paths students actually use between buildings all need to be open, and all of them are easy to miss on a site map.

Clearing Priority
Agreed with the principal or facilities contact before the season.
| Area | Why it comes first | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Bus loop | Buses arrive on a fixed schedule with children on board. | Before first arrival |
| Drop-off lane | Parent drop-off starts before the bell and backs onto the road if blocked. | Before first arrival |
| Main and accessible entrances | Cleared and treated before any student walks on them. | Before first arrival |
| Staff parking | Staff arrive ahead of students and need the lot open. | Before staff arrive |
| Portable walkways | Easy to overlook and impassable after a single storm. | Before first arrival |
| Fire routes and yard doors | Must be passable at all times for emergency access. | Maintained throughout |
| Play areas and field access | Cleared when requested, once the priority areas are done. | After the main pass |
Near play surfaces and newer concrete we use sand or magnesium chloride rather than rock salt. Tell us where those areas are and we will keep salt off them.
Grounds Through The Summer
Through the growing season the same crew handles grass cutting on fields and frontage, bed maintenance, pruning, mulch and spring and fall clean-ups.
Fields get the most use and the most damage, so worn areas, ruts and bare patches are identified during the season and repaired rather than left until they are a safety issue.
Larger work such as sod repair, tree planting, armour stone and walkway repairs is quoted separately so it can be scheduled for the summer break.
